Small but Significant!

update in our Master Bathroom - and it's taken quite a while longer than we were hoping! (why is it that the smallest things sometimes take the longest to accomplish?

Every once in a while, something small that we have on the looong future list, will do something that moves it straight to the top. In this case, the Master Bath shower curtain being replaced by a shower door. When we walked through the house, we thought it was strange the builder just didn't put one in since it's a stand up shower and the guest bath has the tub - but nada.

My next frustration was I found a curved rod for the guest bath to help with long arms and elbow room, but the shower stall is too narrow and thus began the dissagreement of where the spring-rod shower curtain should fall (double curtain - white outside, clear plastic inside). My opinion was that the white curtain should brush the floor - Matt felt the plastic curtain should be long enough to drape so you can 'glue it' to the floor of the shower to make it not move when you're showering. All this would have been solved if I could have found a longer plastic liner, but alas, all shower curtain liners for shower stalls are the same height as my white outside curtain. sigh.
All that being said, what annoyed the both of us the most was that the rod wouldn't stay up. Every couple of months it would fall (with a crash!) and not always at the best times - I clearly remember it falling during the night a few times. So the last time we got home to a shower curtain on the floor, Matt and I decided it was time to replace it with a shower door.
Home Depot was our first stop but after speaking with 5 people and looking through all the books, it turns out not only did they not have a door for us but they also don't offer installation. So next up was Lowe's!
We found a door and a price we liked and went to order.....
Well, it turns out that our lovely builder, who didn't put the door in? He might have had a reason - specialty door needed. oiy. BUT, the bill all totalled (special order door, installation and home check to make sure all our measurements were correct) was still less than just the cost of the door at Home Depot. woot! So we ordered the door - 3 weeks backordered. sigh.

Until this past Monday! Matt got a call that the door was in early! And Matt, not wanting to deal with the shower curtain for any longer than he has to, scheduled installation for today. This is what the shower looked like when I left the house this morning.....

And this is what it looks like now!
There are other projects on the list for the weekend - I'll see how far we get!
