"Never get in the tub with a lamp!"

The upstairs hallway needs a lamp or two. It's a bit stark when it's all clean and tody for company. Just 2 dressers sitting in their places with nothing but 1 vase for decoration.....Ick.
I've been lamp hunting for quite a while now but to no avail. BUT! Home Goods had some great ones this past Friday when I went.... the hard part now, is which one??

I love the dark wood against the silver with the geometric block and the square shade. They are a statement all on their own.

These silver beauties are Mercury glass. Which is in the guestroom only 1 room over. Lovely, but too much of a good thing?

Classic shape, classic silver, classic round white shade..... I have a soft spot for the classics!

These ones aren't really in the running - a bit too odd for me - but could be super cute in someone's home!

I love this lamp. I really love it. The shape, the drum shade.... it's just so elegant! I'm thinking maybeeeeeee...... my study? :-)

What do you think?

PS - 4 days until BB lands in BOSTON!!!!

Goings On of Late

I'm definitely missing some photos from this past week but here is a sampling of what's been happening! Oliver, Melissa and Ladybird (their dog) arrived on Tuesday and we all hung out before Melissa flew out to work for two weeks before flying back up. Oliver and Ladybird are staying with us for a bit visiting family and friends.
This past Saturday, we all headed down to RI for the 20th Anniversary of the RI National Guard Airshow. It's something that Oliver and Dad did for years and I joined them for a few myself :-) It's always a guaranteed good time!

Oliver (my brother) and I standing in front of an old (but spiffy!) plane holding our Del's Lemonade! We each had 2 of these over the course of the day - they are soooooo yummy!!! Matt enjoyed his first Del's as well. There is honestly, nothing in the world like a Del's lemonade!

As you can tell by the huge sweatshirt I'm wearing, the day did not start out all that wonderful. We drove through driving rain, lightening and thunder to get down there. Luckily, it cleared up in the afternoon so the planes could fly. But since the morning wasn't so great weather-wise, we spent the time inside planes and walking around looking at some old and new aircraft.

This is Oliver and I sitting inside the cockpit of a C-130J - it's still active and used with the RI National Guard to transport people, cargo and or vehicles for the armed forces. I have to say this cockpit was quite roomy! They had a skylight, microwave, coffee maker, the pilot said they bring a cooler for cold drinks, etc and 2 bunks for rotational sleeping for pilots on longer flights!

My husband Matt, sitting in the co-pilots chair of the C-130J. This was his first Airshow and he had a great time!

Oliver making a funny face standing next to a smaller reproduction of a WWII plane.

These two pictures (above and below) I took because I loved the detailed art on the back of this Navy Fighter Jet. It's a skeleton head smoking a cigarette in an old-fashioned cigarette holder with wings behind him. Just totally bad-a$$!

AWWWWWWW!!!!!

This is Oliver and Melissa's rescue dog Ladybird. She's snuggled up on Reese's bed after a long walk and bath - she found a great place to roll on the walk and got a bit dirty. I still can't believe she sleeps under a towel or blanket! Reese sleeps on top of everything!

More pictures will be coming soon - Thank you to my Dad who took most of the airshow photos. He got some INCREDIBLE shots of planes on Saturday - we all had a blast! :-)

And for those of you who are counting down the days (like crazy me!) we have 6 days left until BB lands in Boston!!!!!

Somehow I've Managed....

to loose an ENTIRE month!!! I kid you not! I honestly have no idea where the month of June has gone. Well, I mean, my calendar tells me where I was, but it's still a bit foggy!

A trip to Baltimore and West Virginia (which included a wedding!!), some crazy days filled with yearly doctor appointments, visiting friends, visiting family, doggie play dates, along with all the usual bill paying, laundry, crazy-overtime work, sleep (haha!), dishes, trash, recycling, gardening, a bit of reading (mostly on plane rides) and the gym! So, in a quick re-cap:

~ Kelly, thank you for hosting and all the wonderful times in Baltimore!
~ Jake, Uncle Bruce and Aunt Jenny, thank you for taking care of Reese!
~ Those of you looking for pictures of the wedding in WV, they are coming! I borrowed a camera and still haven't figured out how to download them, but I'll get there!
~ Annelyse & Michael, thank you for a beautiful wedding and we wish you the best of luck!
~ Amanda Rice, Teresa and our new friend Marissa (I hope I spelled your name right!)- thanks for an awesome reception!
~ to all the wonderful Dads I have in my life, thank you for all your listening, hugs, comfort and sage advice! I will always be my daddy's girl :-)

(I clearly need some new pics! Not that I don't love our wedding pics, but, ummm....)

And yet! Before the month is up there will be a family trip, the RI National Guard Airshow, my mother's birthday, a BBQ at the house with co-workers and the final days before our Peace Corps Volunteer returns on July 3rd!!!!!

WHEW!!!!! no wonder I feel upsidedown! oops! That's Reese upsidedown!
hang tight and I'll be back soon with more house adventures - even the little things, like putting on doors to my bookshelves, installling towel rods and a bit more garage storage!
