The "lawn"

So, here is my brother out watering the lawn with a special Scott's turf builder/ weed killer. Our "lawn" has been hydro-seeded twice now and the builder is done with it. It's now up to us and what we choose to do. ie, spend the time, money and effort on making the "lawn" really a Lawn OR, letting everything fill in green with some kind of plant and then dealing with it later......

As you can see by the huge green tufts of grass, the second hydro-seeding took better in places than others even though we watered like crazy people after they did it. This is the back yard (we also have the side and front) which is in the worst shape. But still.

I'm sure you can see the balding spots which ironically, sit above the septic tank. I honestly think the grass is having a hard time because no top soil was put down before they hydro-seeded. They just went over what was still there. Every now and then, I go out to re-fill the bird feeder and end up pulling up sticks, twigs, etc that are in the grass. Not from falling debris, but stuff that is actually IN the grass.
You would think, that when you build a new house, you would FINISH the yard that goes with it....... but then again? maybe not.

Staining the Deck

So this is the before picture. Only the deck had gotten a bit worse in terms of color turning almost grey in some places.

And this is the after picture! I have to say that it was exhausting - but totally worth it! We do have some touch ups to do, but for now the deck is protected and looking MUCH better than it did before!

PS - I just found my camera! So now I just have to remember to charge the battery and take the pics of the house!

'Tis Wedding Season Once Again!

So, my husband and I are in 3 weddings this summer season. 2 are in July. 2 weeks apart. So. Busy month but all close friends who we wouldn't miss their big day for the world!

These pics are for July wedding #2 for which I am in the wedding party. (The other two, Matt is in the wedding party and I'm a guest/ arm candy!)

Pardon my goofy face! Matt took the pics on my phone and was making funny faces at me. Oh, and my hair - it was warm that night and I was in one of those I-wish-I-could-chop-off-all-my-hair-b/c-it's-so-annoying moods! :-)

You can see the top of our dining room table - the pedestal is being repaired, hence the folding table to the left which has a table cloth to try and hide that its a folding table!

Even the bride laughed when I first put it on for her to see (discussion on the hemline: shorter in front to ease walking, floor length on sides, mini train in back to help the chiffon flow correctly) as it looks a bit Jane Austen aka Pride and Prejudice to us - in a good way! We both LOVE her stories!

I have just found my dress(es) for the RD for both July weddings (thank you JCrew!) and my long dress for the first July wedding to go with Matt's snazzy tux! Those however, will be kept under wraps a bit longer until they come in and then I will share photos :-)
SURVEY: how many weddings have you ladies been in? Any funny stories about dresses? Or the worst (aka ugly) bridesmaid dress?

Happy Wedding Season Brides!!!!!
