Crazy Reese

Oh Reesey-face! This past weekend he was up to some crazy stunts.... I should say crazy stunts he hasn't attempted before. Here are a few pics!
Most of us have seen Reese happily snuggled up on the couch. It's true. He loves hanging out there. But he hates being tucked in - doesn't want any blanket over him and prefers the bare couch cushions to any blankets. He has, at times, moved the blanket so he can lay on the couch rather than the blanket.
Not this time! He loved it - practically pushing me off the couch so he could have more room and more blanket. (The blanket is an Afghan made for us by family! Told we use it all the time Ally!)
And this?? This, I find hysterical.
Reese as a lapdog. A 75pd lapdog!
But he managed it - legs all a-kimbo - he stayed there for the better part of an hour! All snuggly with Matt.
Oh, Reesey-face how you crack me up and make me laugh!

Dog days of Friday!

While the bring-your-dog-to-work has now been limited to Fridays, we are still enjoying our furry visiting friends!
These two lovely ladies, belong to the head of the office. They are both beagles that have been rescued (one from medical testing).
They are both total sweethearts! I am not usually a fan of smaller dogs, but they make me want to adopt a beagle or two!
This is Kaley keeping my lunch bag company on my spare chair. She occasionally naps there as well!

Jonas & Reese

We have a doggie visitor! Jonas has been staying at the house yesterday and today - it's been great having him!
Billy and Ashley joined us last night for a lovely round of board games and dinner - a double date night IN :) Has anyone heard of the game LOGO? It's my new favorite board game! think of a mix of trivia questions about different logo's - anything from cars to food to shampoo - with a board game almost like parchesi :)
The smaller shadow on the couch is Jonas - a black lab who belongs to Ashley and Billy - while the big hunk-o-dog on the floor is Reese.
These are the only 2 pics that came out because unless they are passed out - they are black blurs running around the house and yard playing like the two Goobers they are!
I can't wait for next month when we can do this again!

Mardi-Gras (or Fat Tuesday!)

Happy Mardi-Gras!
I was requested by a co-worker to bake something fun for the office.
So I did a 2-layer cake: a chocolate bottom layer with a fun-fetti top layer.
And then I covered the entire thing in chocolate fudge frosting with some fun-fetti sprinkles on top!
Super-tasty!

Happy Valentine's Day

I've never been a huge V-day person. Probably because I am not a fan of the color pink, and I also believe that those your love should not just be told 1 day every year. They should be told more often than that. And flowers or little gifts should not be 1 day a year put on the calendar by card companies. BUT! this year, Matt and I will both be home cooking together: stir-fry (YUM!) and watching a movie or two.

This year I find that I am  missing my maiden name.... hence the pics in this post. Thank goodness I kinda kept it as my middle name!

Baking & Stress Relief

My job has been very stressful of late. Some of that stress I have brought upon myself, and other bits just come with the job. In trying to stay relaxed, I have brought back some of my favorite hobbies - baking being the topic of this particular post :) Above are the blueberry muffins I baked this weekend. They were uber-delish! Even Matt said they were sooo good they didn't need butter or toasting or jam, etc. YUM!
Last weekend I baked as well - apple cinnamon bread - but I forgot to take pics. I did two mini loaves so Matt and I ate one and I brought the other one into work.
I loved doing the muffins though - I might start doing more muffins.

Old Portsmouth Bridge

The Old Portsmouth Bridge, or Memorial Bridge, started coming this week. It was scheduled to come down much earlier in the week than it did - AND, it was originally scheduled to come down during the day. It came down at night, so even though I walked down three days in a row hoping to catch some action, I wasn't really able to get much.
This is the first day I walked down. They had tugboats bringing in a large barge in order to float out the center section of the bridge. There were 2 other smaller barges as well which held the 2 large red cranes.

This was day two. The cranes were moving around lifting supplies onto the towers prepping everything to move. Earlier in the day the center bridge had been lifted to its max to allow one crane to pass to the other side.

While it was fun to see the cranes moving around and people all over the place getting things ready to go......
This dock full of people, as well as myself, were hoping to see the bridge taken down and put onto the barge to be floated down river.
They did it during the night. So when I went on the 3rd day, it looked like this - no center bridge.
The cranes and two smaller barges stayed - I believe to assist with the rest of the bridge coming down. The entire bridge is being removed and will then be replaced over the summer of 2013.
You can even see the big Rte 95 bridge through the hole. I know I will miss the bridge though - I walked over it to Badger Island on my lunch breaks - the cool ocean breeze was always lovely during the hot summer.... my work collegaues have also mentioned an awesome lobster sandwhich that will be out of reach as well, until the bridge is replaced.

It's the Little Things.....

I know I haven't been good about posting every few days, but work has been a bit insane (9 hour days last week) and with crazy work, the days just pass by. So it was wonderful to slow down this weekend and spend time at home with Matt and Reese (and I squeezed in some extended-family time too!).

Here are a few snapshots of the weekend:

Matt brought me some beautiful flowers that opened right up- a wonderful spark of sunshine in the kitchen!

He also fixed the doorknob/lock to the laundry room. It had been finikiy for a while, but when it almost locked us out on Saturday morning, Matt decided it was time for it to go and he replaced it!!
Then on Sunday, he went and made homemade hummus! He's so handy!!!
We also explored Kingman Farm with Reese, which is a local teaching farm and in the winter, a popular dog walk/hike. Although maybe I should say jog because Reese was sooo happy that he had us jogging (sometimes on ice!) to keep up with him. We stayed for about an hour - until my nose was about to fall off and Reese was panting :)

I hope you had a wonderful weekend too!
