Oh! The Snow!

Will it ever stop?? We are truly running out of places to put the snow. Reese got 'stuck' under the deck last night as I was shoveling snow off the deck - he gets serious work-out just going out to do his business these days jumping over/through the snow!
The weathermen all say there will be a warm up later this week and I am really hoping they are right!

Here are some pics after our latest storm (yesterday)
From work:
 Out my office window
Out the office kitchen window - do you see the mountain of snow next to the not-so-little truck?
And then it snowed again this afternoon - seriously?! This much be a joke

At Home:
 the grill
the deck. yes, it still has snow on it.
But I'm running out of nearby places to put it!
see the pile through the deck railing?
that's from shoveling the deck this winter
here's a view out the living room window.
granted there are raised beds under this window
but that pile is too close for comfort!
the front stairs. which now must be carved out of the snow banks
a slightly further back view so now you can see the size of the snow bank
in relation to Matt's car. yep.
here is the snow bank on the other side in relation to my taller car
Reese has tried climbing it a few times.

No decor budget this year, so I made the Chandy

I, myself, pulled out my trusty ER Dr scrubs and enjoyed the day in comfort!!

Office Summer Outing

This past weekend was my office summer outing held at Funway Park just south of Manchester, NH. Yours truly was in charge of making sure everything went well - and I have to say, everyone had a blast! :-) woot!

There was mini golf, go-karts, laser tag, a laser maze, and a New England style lobster/clambake dinner!
Pardon the quality of photos - that part I did forget - these all came from a co-worker!

Juicing Mishap

I have been experimenting with my juicer.
Wait.
Let me back up.
I have no idea why I waited so long to get one - it's freakin' awesome! Have you ever watched one work? I mean COOL! it takes fruit, veggies - all raw - and turns them into liquid! even the peels, stems, seeds - everything goes in! Juice comes out the side. I know, I sound like a crazy person, but just wait until you've taken an entire BAG of spinach and turned it into 6 ounces of juice!!

Ok. So, I have been experimenting with my juicer for a few weeks now. some juice turns out more delish than others (I haven't thrown any away!), but I'm learning and I have books and recipes and my imagination has been leading the way to new and creative combinations of tasty (and SUPER healthy!) juice.
This morning I was really pumped to try a new combo: baby spinach, celery, beets, apples and a dash (quarter) of lemon. Most of my ingredients are totally organic and coming from our local CSA program which means they are extremely fresh and tasty even before they meet the juicer!

Hello breakfast! :-) you taste mostly the beets and celery which I find interesting. spinach tends to fade into the background but usually apples and lemon are pretty solid but the beets took over - you can see that by the color too! which is where I got into trouble....

So while juicing, I put on an apron to make sure I didn't get anything on my work clothes.... can you see where this is going already?

Yep! I got to work and my white shirt had juice spots alllll over it. Charming.....

It will be having a date with oxy-clean this evening. if that doesn't work, bleach will be the next step.

BUT!! lucky for me, my wonderfully awesome hubby hadn't left the house yet when I saw my shirt and he brought me a new one on his way to work, so I didn't have to walk around in my spotted shirt all day :-) Isn't he just the best?

Does anyone else have a juicer they love? what's your favorite combo of fruits and veggies?

Second Floor Switcheroo!

Designs are being finished for our basement project - but since we are headed into fall and the project might spill over into the winter season, we needed to get Matt's office space out of the basement. He can't sit down there, wrapped in blankets with a space heater on his feet for another winter!
So where can we put his office/computer desk? It certainly won't fit in my study..... then I had one of those light bulb moments (think of Despicable Me!)...... what if we swap the guestroom with my study and then add Matt to the bigger room - ie a shared study? I measured.... and thought about it..... and measured again. I ran it by Matt who wasn't sure the difference in size of the rooms would be enough.....and then, I decided to just do it!
Here's what the study used to look like - on a messy day!!

only pictures I could find were when we put the bookcases together

And here's what the study looks like now! TA-DA! Super cozy, but totally work-able guestroom!!

OK, you say, but what about Matt's theory with the other room?
Here's the first version of the guestroom...

Before we get to the after pictures (unless you want to cheat and scroll down first!) here's the moving process. I first moved the bookcases because I could move them into the guestroom with moving very little furniture out. But as I was moving the empty bookcases, I took the opportunity to finally put the backs on!

This one even got a fancy treatment of paper down the back!
After it was emptied, back put on, moved into place and loaded up again....

I moved the 4-drawer file cabinet.
No, I did not empty this first. No, I did not use floor sliders.
I used pure muscle :-)
Then I emptied bookcase 2, put the back on, moved it into place and
re-loaded it with all my craft & paint supplies. WHEW!

I do not have pictures of moving my writing desk as it was a bit of a puzzle. I didn't want to take the legs off like I did the last time, so I finnagled it until it worked! :-)
OK. So is there room for Matt? The entire wall to the left of my desk (where the Queen bed and two bed side tables used to be) is completely free and waiting for Matt's stuff :-) Plenty of room!! Success!!

Now we just need to move Matt's stuff up from the basement. I'm even thinking we might have room for a comfy chair and a small TV :-)
