Painting Sneak Peek!

This weekend, my Mum and I painted 3 rooms: The study, the master bath and the guest bath. It was fun, exhausting, and very rewarding!

This is the master bath. The color is called Polar Drift and it's a crystal blue color. It looks great against all the white accents AND with the darker blue that is the master bedroom.

I'm totally loving our new LLBean monogrammed towels against the chrome and the blue walls! (I'm truly an LLBean girl Matt teases me about it all the time!)

Here are a few pics of the study, although I have more to share once I've done some touch-ups! We did a really cool thing with the tape to trick the eye into making all the mouldings look a bit bigger.

But I will share more later on that once the touch-ups are done and I've loaded more pictures!

I hope you enjoy this sneak peek! The guest bath is still drying but I will post some pictures as soon as it gets put back together :-)

How Much Snow Do We Have?!

I took a bunch of photos of the house in the snow. Of course, we are expecting another 12 - 24 inches next Wednesday, but at least this gives you an idea!

The snow and ice have been so bad that the Christmas wreaths are still up. The one on the garage has icicles down one side too!

I'm not sure you can see it from here, but we've shoveled a path from the back deck to the side of the garage/ driveway so we can get from the front to the back of the house.

Not sure if you can see the two dark blips in the tree line but one is our well and the other is our composter!

Reese has decided he likes climbing this big snowbank b/c he can see more of the yard at once.

It's times like this I'm glad Reese is a dark colored dog b/c if he had white fur, we might loose him!

The burried bulkhead in the backyard under the dining room windows. You can just see a bit of red.
Reese standing in the shoveled path from the back deck to the front yard. The snow is chest deep on him when he goes bounding through it!

Happy Snow!

Dog License?

Tell me this. Why does it cost over $300 to register two cars in my town but only costs $6.50 to register my dog?

Thought (light bulb!). With all this snow, it'd be cheaper to have a team of snow dogs and a sled to get around town than to have my car. AND, I'd probably get to and from work faster! (3 hrs today to go 12 miles.)

I'll take a picture of the back yard and post it - the snow it up to the deck. Yep. The deck. Oh! and we have another foot coming tomorrow.......

Sample Colors II

So here are the guest bathroom colors. The ugly green included.

Ugly green is in the middle - new colors are around it and right around the towel loop is the white original wall color.

I think I'm liking the one on the right. The lighter color. Just a hint of color? with the white cabinet, floor mats and towels?

I have to have a final decision by Friday which is when I'm buying paint and help arrives to paint it with me.....so......

Thoughts?

Sample Colors

We have all 3 bathrooms, my study and the upstairs and downstairs hallways to paint.

All colors have been chosen (long ago actually) but no work has been done since we've had the holidays and Reese to cope with - all good things!

So here are the pictures from the samples:

This grey is going in the study. It's a lovely warm grey that I think is going to really cozy up the space. The trim will be staying white, along with the ceiling and the light colored rug.

The stairway. It's a warm yellow/cream color that will hopefull take the edge off the sharp, ugly mass of paper white that is the stair way and halls.

Here's another closer shot of the hall color.

The master bath color. I'm totally in loooooooooooove with this color!!! It's SUCH a pretty blue and makes the white trim and cabinets just POP! I can't wait to get the whole room done!

The guest bathroom is a green color that I don't like. I thought I might warm up to it, but no. So I'm going to get some more colors and we'll see how it goes.

After Holiday Blues

The holidays are over and we are left with........ snow... Lots of snow!

And since all the holiday decorations have been put away....

The Christmas tree was in this corner.....

(Hi Reese!!)
I went and found myself some tulips to brighten up the space.

MUCH Better!!! (LOOOVE the sun too!)

In the next few weeks, there will be updates on painting bathrooms and possibly movement in my study as well! How are you passing your winter days?

Blizzard & Reese

Some photos of Reese sleeping on our bed (a usual No-No) during the blizzard we had this past week. Luckily Matt and I both had time off and so we got to stay inside and watch the snow fall with Reese!

The glare from outside along with the white comforter cover makes it bright enough that these photos actually SHOW Reese in all his glory rather than make him look like a black blob (my sincere apologies about our holiday card this year but the camera was refusing to work!).

I hope everyone is having a WONDERFUL New Years' Day!!!

We are off to take a hike in the melting snow :-)
