Something Fun for All Seasons!

I have to admit I almost did not share this Etsy find with you all because I wanted to keep it as a secret for fun gifties :-) but, I was just too excited not to share!!!

http://www.ao3designs.com/

They have clutches, bags and wristlets in all shades of fun colors and styles! Oh, the options! They have formal, informal and even more fabrics and ribbons to create a custom look!

I actually pulled these images off their blog that show some of their custom work for weddings and/or special projects for customers.

They do have other styles of bags as well - it just happens the pics I pulled are all of their Alexis bag.

Which one is your fav?

Ikea Upgrade

Since I've been working on 1 project a week or at least on the weekend, why would this one be any different? :-)
So this past weekend, I took this bunch of boxes and .......

Built/Assembled the majority of 2 glass fronted bookcases for my study.

Then I filled the majority of them up with books and assorted items. The large black box on the left is my speaker/radio; I took the two small lamps I had in storage and tucked them on top for more light (especially since I hate the big ugly overhead) and I also put up some magazine storage boxes that are black and silver.

I hung up some photographs and our college undergrad diplomas on either side of the window AND mostly cleaned off my desk  but there is still a LOT of cleaning up to do. Thinking of the closet makes me shudder!

I need to find something organizational for above my desk. The wall is too blank and frankly, a bit boring. So yes, another weekend project, but like the stairhall it will take me more than just 2 days to get it done. Sigh. Ah well, such is life!

What did you do this weekend?

Cool Find!

Ok. For those that know me, you know and understand that fabric has had a pretty large role in my life since I was very young. So how could I not get excited when I found a website where you can design your own graphic fabric?!

www.spoonflower.com

Well, I didn't find it really, I found it through the YHL blog, but still. HOW COOL IS THIS?! (Believe me, I am aware how dorky I am) So cool. So very cool. I have no idea what I'm going to do with it yet, but I just had to share my excitement!

My other happy news is that the storage units I ordered for my study are coming today. Yippeeee! This means I can finally organise the space (Monkish = Me) and really start using it to its full advantage.

I hope your rainy week is filled with simple joys too!

Hallway of Pictures

This was a lazy weekend for me. I went to the salon and had my first pedicure of the summer season - it was heaven! I watched a few movies: I Heart Huckabees, You Again, Love & Other Drugs, How Do You Know. See? I told you it was a lazy weekend!! The rain made me want to do nothing but sleep and stay on the couch with Reese and hot tea.

I did, however, get one inside project done. This was the hallway at the end of last weekend:

And here it is with almost every photo we have, framed, and up on the wall. I did make a trip to Michael's and caught a GREAT break with clearance frames for 49 cents a piece! So if you recognise photos in different frames, I did change up the frames, and some photos in order to try and get everything into a black frame with a white mat or no mat.
I started at the top and worked my way down. The photos stop about my shoulder height, which means we still have some room to put up more photos - and I still have more black frames, but I think it will stay like this for a while.
Like a good dog, Reese kept me company all weekend (hubby was off seeing his brother) and even sometimes got in the way sleeping under ladders in an attempt to stay close.
This became one of his favorite spots though. Much more convenient as it allows me to move ladders around and go up and down the stairs - this is the landing - I don't really understand how it was comfy for his neck!
What an awkward angle!! And what a sweet dog - I am so lucky to have him :-)

Weekend Surprise!

This past weekend was one busy mess! But the results are awesome - if I do say so myself! :-)
The hallway upstairs, downstairs and stairway were all painted.
New roman shades were install in the upstairs hallway and the one funky window on the stairs.
Lilacs were planted in a raised bed along the garage wall.
Hydrangeas were planted in a raised bed along the back wall of the house w/ iris.
Iris were planted in a raised bed around the giant rock in the yard (there are more but I ran out of soil).
Lily of the Valley were planted in the front bed by the front porch.
New raised pot (of sorts) has been placed by the front porch awaiting flowers.
Oliver's truck bed extender, headboard and dresser were sold on Craigslist.
I watched Country Strong - good movie, better music - made me finally set-up the iTunes store on my laptop and purchase the music.
Visited with family on Sunday afternoon and enjoyed some laughs!
Here are all the pics. I tried to keep them in order of before and afters!
