weekend visitors

This past weekend my parents came up for a birthday visit - my Dad's birthday was Saturday. We had great weather Sat afternoon and after a late lunch in Market Square, we headed out for a walk around downtown Portsmouth.
 Dad got some good photo's and we all had a great time walking around in the leaves and crisp air! 

I mentioned in a previous post that I had taken down the skulls and Halloween wreath,
but the mantel looked a bit lopsided with just the pumpkins, so I added the
two silver candlesticks and orange candles to add some height and balance everything out.

The nights have turned chillier, so the white coverlet has been changed out in the guestroom
for a heavier quilt and matching shams.

I partially prepped the dinner table before we left for Portsmouth so I could focus on food prep when we got home. 

Birthday/Christmas gift was wrapped - it was a big one this year from  Oliver, Melissa, Matt and me.
We all joined together to get Dad a new laptop!

Matt had brought in wood, so we had a fire while Dad opened his present.
Gotta love technology: we Skype'd Oliver and Melissa so we could all be 'there' when Dad opened the gift.

We also finished 2 more chairs! Woot! Yay for new staple guns :-)
1 last one to do at Thanksgiving and then they will all be done!!
